"I know you all must be thinking that I upload chapters very late — and I’m really sorry for that. But my first story, Always Yours, is reaching its ending, so most of my focus stays on that book right now. But I promise, as soon as that story is completed, I will start updating this one regularly. And thank you so much to everyone who’s been so patient with me."
When the principal handed Amaal the envelope, she blinked in confusion.
"What's inside, sir?" she asked, curiosity dancing in her voice.
With a warm, knowing smile, he replied, “Open it, Amaal. I think it’ll make you smile.”
She tore it open, her fingers trembling slightly. A single letter slipped out.
As she scanned the words, her brows pulled together, then shot up. “Is this... really for me?”
“It is, dear. Zayan Mirza sent it himself—the chief guest from yesterday. His company’s launching a branch in Kashmir, and he’s chosen you. Plus, he’s invited other students for interviews.”
“Beta, this is a big opportunity for your career,” the principal added. “Don’t let it slip through your fingers.”
Amaal managed a soft smile, her heart pounding against her ribs. Letter still in hand, she stepped out of the cabin.
The moment she hit the corridor, two familiar figures rushed toward her—Fatima and Kabir.
Kabir raised an eyebrow. “What happened? Did the principal scold you hard or what?”
Before Amaal could reply, Fatima snatched the letter from her hand and gasped. “Wait—did they resticate you?!”
“Guys, no,” Amaal said “It’s not that. It’s... something bigger.”
Kabir and Fatima blinked in unison. “Bigger? What’s going on? Show us!”
She handed over the letter. Kabir’s eyes widened like saucers as he read it. Fatima, noticing his face, gasped again.
“Don’t tell me it’s a love letter from the principal?!”
“He’s like sixty!” Fatima snorted. “And has more grandchildren than teeth left.”
“Shut up, both of you,” Amaal rolled her eyes “It’s a job offer.”
“A job offer?! Wait—did you even submit a resume?” Fatima asked, mouth hanging open.
“It’s from Mirza Group of Company,” Kabir said, his voice still tinged with disbelief. “Zayan sir is opening his company in Kashmir. He’s directly appointed her.. and the joining is tomorrow.”
Fatima looked like he’d seen a ghost. “This has to be a prank. That man roasted you alive yesterday!”
“How can he appoint someone just like that?” Fatima frowned.
“Hold on,” Amaal said, taking a deep breath. “Let me explain everything that happened last night...”
And she told them—every single thing.
Fatima gasped again, this time louder, and leaned in. “Ya Allah! You just hit the jackpot, girl!”
Amaal did not say anything
“But wait,” she added, looking at her friends. “There’s something for you guys too. The company has invited other students for interviews.”
“What?!” both shouted.
“Then why are we wasting time here? Let’s go home and prep!” Kabir grinned.
The three of them walked off, buzzing with adrenaline.
Back home, Amaal shared the letter with her family. Her mother’s eyes welled up with pride.
But Meher—her elder sister—stood silent, lips pressed in a straight line. The mention of Zayan left a bitter taste in her mouth. Still, she said nothing. She wouldn’t let her personal resentment dim Amaal’s dreams. She knew what this opportunity meant.
That night, Amaal tossed and turned in bed, eyes wide open in the dark. Sleep refused to come.
Her mind was on a loop.
What if I mess up? What will tomorrow bring? What if I say the wrong thing?
Nervousness swirled in her chest like a storm.
It wasn’t just another day tomorrow.
It was the start of something big.
Amal woke up early and got ready quickly, but her mind wasn't on anything. She kept looking at the clock repeatedly. Her mother noticed this and asked, "What's wrong, beta? You've got such a good job, but I've been seeing you unhappy since yesterday. Is there something on your mind? Tell me, what's bothering you?"
Amaal and meher hadn't told her mother about the previous night. Amaal looked away and said, "There's nothing, Ammi. You're thinking wrong. I'm just a bit nervous because it's my first job, that's all."
Her mother placed her hand on Amaal's head and said, "Don't worry, beta. Everything will be fine. Allah is with you."
In a short while, Kabir and Fatima arrived to pick up Amaal, and soon they reached the office.
